Walk through any factory that has grown step by step, and you can count the vacuum pumps one by one: a small unit bolted next to the packaging machine, another under the thermoforming table, a third humming in the corner of the QC lab. Planning the Switch in Four Steps

  1. Audit every vacuum point. List each workstation, its required working pressure, and its actual flow. Note which points run continuously and which cycle.
  2. Size the station and the ring main with margin. Add simultaneous demand, a growth allowance, and pressure drop along the longest pipe run. The buffer tank smooths peak draws so the pumps do not have to.
  3. Choose the pump technology for the process, not the catalog. For general industrial duty — packaging, vacuum forming, holding, lifting — an oil sealed rotary vane vacuum pump remains the economical workhorse.
