If you have ever had a production line stopped by oil backstreaming or a contaminated batch traced back to a worn oil-sealed pump, you already know why so many plants are switching to dry vacuum technology. The harder question is not whether to go dry, but who to buy from. A quick search returns dozens of suppliers, yet the gap between a trading website and a real dry vacuum pump factory only becomes obvious when something goes wrong at 2 a.m. on your production floor. Here is a practical way to tell them apart.
Start With the Machine Shop, Not the Brochure
A dry screw pump lives or dies by the precision of its rotors. The two screw rotors spin at high speed with clearances measured in microns, never touching each other or the housing. If the machining is off by even a small margin, you get heat, vibration, and a pump that wears out years early. That is why the first thing to ask any supplier is simple: do you cut your own rotors, and on what machines?
This is where serious manufacturers separate themselves. - A dedicated vacuum testing room where every pump is run to its ultimate vacuum and pumping-speed curve before shipment, not just sampled.
- Materials testing capability, such as a tensile and physics lab, so that incoming castings and titanium alloys are checked rather than trusted.

If a supplier offers one dry pump for everything, they are asking your process to adapt to their inventory. A real manufacturer adapts the pump to you.
Look for Installed Proof, Not Promises
Every brochure claims reliability. What matters is whose production lines are betting on it.
