  • Ultimate vacuum, stated honestly. Ask for the blank-off ultimate pressure with the gas ballast closed, and ask how it was measured. Serious builders state it clearly and stand behind it.
  • Speed at working pressure, not just at atmosphere. Nominal displacement is a nameplate number. What dries your product or evacuates your line is the speed the pump actually delivers at your working pressure.
  • Oil and sealing quality. An oil sealed rotary vane vacuum pump lives and dies by its oil and its shaft seals. Imported bearings and quality oil seals are not marketing decoration; they are the difference between a pump that holds vacuum in year three and one that weeps oil in month three. Use proper vacuum pump oil and change it on schedule.
