It is the difference between a pump that holds its rated ultimate vacuum for years and one that slowly loses performance, runs hot, and fails ahead of schedule. The Four Core Functions of the Oil

Inside the pump, a rotor spins eccentrically within a cylindrical stator while sliding vanes press outward against the stator wall, trapping and compressing gas. The oil is present at every one of those contact points, performing four jobs simultaneously:

  • Lubrication. The oil forms a thin film between the vanes, rotor, bearings, and stator wall. Without that film, metal-to-metal contact at sliding surfaces would wear the vanes and bearings out in a very short time. Good lubricity keeps friction, heat, and power consumption under control.
