Solution to maintenance and troubleshooting of vacuum pumps

The reasons for the malfunction of the vacuum pump and how to repair it are introduced below.

1. Oil leakage: This is one of the common faults in the maintenance of vacuum pumps (EDWARDS vacuum pumps), mainly occurring at the oil window, oil tank sealing gasket, and motor bearing shaft seal of the vacuum pump. The main reason is that the vacuum pump has been used for too long, causing aging and sealing failure in these areas, resulting in oil leakage.
Solution: Replace the aging oil window, shaft seal, sealing gasket, and felt gasket that has been filled with pump oil. After maintenance is completed, rinse the vacuum pump with Edward vacuum pump oil before oil injection, and clean the filter at the oil injection port with solvent to maintain the cleanliness of the oil tank.
2. Unable to reach the maximum vacuum level of the vacuum pump: First, check the airtightness of the vacuum system to see if there is any slight air leakage. Secondly, the gas pump should be turned on and allowed to run for about 30 minutes to drain the compressible steam caused by non pump oil pollution.

Solution: Replace the rotor and spring, and clean the rotor and pump chamber; Check the exhaust valve to see if its action is malfunctioning, causing poor exhaust. If necessary, replace the exhaust valve.
3. Vacuum pump (EDWARDS vacuum pump maintenance) cannot start: mainly manifested as the vacuum pump cannot start and run after being powered on. At this point, the circuit part of the vacuum pump should be checked first, such as whether the fuse is burned out and whether there are any components in the circuit that are burned out. After troubleshooting the circuit section, the following two factors should be considered:
(1) The motor is burnt out. The main cause is the burning of the stator coil of the motor, which is caused by various reasons, such as excessive instantaneous current, wear of the motor bearings over time, increased friction resistance of the bearings, increased motor power, temperature rise, and burning of the motor. At this point, the motor bearings should be checked first, and then the motor coils should be checked. Replace the bearings if they are damaged; If the motor coil is burned out, the motor should be repaired and the sub coil should be rewound. When the bearings and coils are severely damaged, the motor needs to be replaced.
(2) Rotating disc jamming. The main manifestation is that the frictional resistance between the rotor and the surface inside the pump chamber is too high, causing the motor to be unable to drive the rotor. The reason is the deformation of the rotor, the spring inside the rotor cannot be reset after opening, or the combined force of spring pressure and the centrifugal force of the rotor itself is too large, resulting in excessive friction resistance between the rotor and the surface of the pump chamber. At this point, the rotor and spring should be repaired in a timely manner. If they cannot be repaired, they should be replaced.
